The Ever-Changing Times

Izzie (aka Hope Collier) posted on facebook the other day an article from USA today. Most of you know that I scour the net looking for articles that inspire, but I must tell you that this one blew me away.

It seems that in just the short time I've been a part of this industry, I've watched it struggle through massive growing pains. Why, it was only a few short years ago that people scoffed at the idea of e-readers. Who would buy such an expensive toy when the library is right down the street? And don't get me started on those indie authors! Only good books are published through the big houses. My the times are ever-changing, aren't they?

Izzie's USA article hails the accomplishments of Amanda Hocking, Author of the the Trylle Trilogy. Her numbers are astounding, selling more than 450,000 copies in January alone. My hat is off to her, and all I can say is that I look forward to seeing what the future brings to indie artists everywhere!

  1. I'm off to check out this article now that I have a working PC again =) And I'm a HUGE supporter of Indie authors! Just like the traditionally published books, the good stuff always rises to the top, and I have faith the industry is changing for the best for writers everywhere =D Congrats on your success MS. Beth!

  2. Huh, very appropriate timing here, huh? ;)

I love the Indie world! Some of the most amazing and *real* stories come from the authors who are free to tell them. My respect continues to grow!

    Bravo, Indies! :D
